Welcome From The Director Of Education
Education is a
powerful and dynamic instrument for liberating mankind. It has the potential
of shrinking the many barriers, real or imaginery that once divided the world
and its people. Education is seen as the "cure all" for a
number of societal ills. Indeed, education is the foundation of
nation-building. Being guided by the
Five Year Education Plan which comprehensively articulates the aims and
objectives of the education sector, and mandates a number of strategies for
responding to educational imperatives, the Education departments seeks to
provide quality education to the three critical levels of children's
development:- pre-primary, primary and secondary . In an ongoing effort
to improve the quality of educational provision, emphases are placed on
developments in infrastructure and curricula investments in professional
training and enrichment of teachers, capacity building at management level
and the fostering of closer partnerships and liaisons. The staff at the
department and the schools comprises of highly trained, qualified and
experienced professionals who are robust in their commitment to produce well
rounded and productive citizens. The diverse cultural backgrounds from which
our teachers come afford a more enriching classroom experience for the many
children who fall under their supervision. We recognize the assistance of our
various partners in education: parents, service clubs, the private sector,
sister departments and several agencies. Here, we have provided
for you some insight into our operations in an effort to make you more aware
of what we do. it is our sincere hope that you find the information useful.
